About Ry Cooder
Ry Cooder is an American musician and composer from Los Angeles, California. He is known for his genre-bending musical style, blending folk, blues, country, rock and Hawaiian and multiple world music styles. His vast repertoire of instruments include guitar, violin, piano, banjo, mandolin, accordion, bouzouki, steel guitar and Amazonian Indigenous instrument.
He released his first album in 1970 as a studio musician, and in 1976 he released his first solo album, "Ry Cooder". He is best known for his score for the 1992 film "The Long Riders" and his collaboration with the Buena Vista Social Club in the late 1990s. At the Grammys, Cooder has been awarded Album of the Year, Best Contemporary Folk Album and Best Instrumental Performance.
In the 2000s, Cooder continued to explore different musical styles, most notably film soundtracks, blues, Latin music, and country as a producer
