About Sham 69
Sham 69 formed in 1975, in Hersham, England. They are one of the earliest and most famous punk bands of all time and have sold millions of records. Led by vocalist Jimmy Pursey, they defined the punk genre of the 1970s with instantly recognisable anthemic singalong tunes. Their hit single 'If the Kids Are United' reached number 12 in the British Singles Chart and went Top 10 in several European countries. They also had a Top 10 UK Albums Chart entry with their debut LP Tell Us the Truth. Since their initial reunion in 1987, Sham 69 has had several line-ups, continuing to tour and record, with Pursey remaining the leader. They still enjoy great popularity amongst punk fans.
