SikTh is an English progressive metal band from Watford, Hertfordshire. Formed in 1999, the group is widely credited as one of the forefathers of the djent music style and technical metalcore genre. SikTh is composed of five members and have released two full-length studio albums, Death of a Dead Day and The Trees are Dead & Dried Out Wait for Something Wild, as well as three extended plays. The band is known for its highly technical musical style which incorporates various subgenres from metalcore to prog metal to jazz to hip-hop. Along with their various eccentrications of tempo, time signature and dynamics, SikTh has achieved critical acclaim as a pioneering act of modern metal. The band broke up in 2008 but reformed in 2014, embarking on a series of tours and generating a loyal fan base among the metal community.
