SL is a Canada-based hip hop artist, originally from Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He has been active in the music industry since 2006, and has released six mixtapes, two EPs and two full-length studio albums. SL has worked with many notable artists including Talib Kweli, Paul Wall, Freeway, Rick Ross, and Red Cafe, among others. His sound combines elements of progressive, melodic hip hop, soul, and R&B, with a strong dose of lyrical sharpness. He is recognized for his smooth vocals and highly-personal and honest content that touches on a wide range of topics, often exploring themes of identity, racism, and class. He has become an influential figure in the Canadian hip hop scene, and has been nominated for many awards, including the Juno Awards.
