Sleepytime Gorilla Museum was an experimental rock band founded in Oakland, California, in 1999. Known for their avant-garde sound, the group combined elements of progressive rock, heavy metal, and performance art to create a unique musical experience. Their lineup featured Dan Rathbun, Nils Frykdahl, Carla Kihlstedt, Moe! Staiano, and Matthias Bossi, with instruments ranging from traditional to homemade creations. Over the years, they gained a dedicated following for their theatrical live performances and complex compositions. The band released multiple albums, including "Grand Opening and Closing" and "In Glorious Times," before disbanding in 2011.
