The Blue Aeroplanes are an English post-punk/alternative rock band formed in Bristol in 1980. Over the years, their sound has expanded to include elements of blues, folk and jazz while maintaining a consistent, often anthemic quality. Lead by frontman Gerard Langley, the band has released 12 studio albums since their 1982 debut LP, "Beatsongs". The Blue Aeroplanes scored a minor hit in 1992 with their single ‘Apoplexy’ and were widely praised for their 1993 effort ‘Life Model’. The band has toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Japan and continues to perform live shows and reissue their albums. The Blue Aeroplanes remain one of the most acclaimed and groundbreaking British alternative rock acts of their generation.
