The Grates avatar

The Grates are an indie rock band from Brisbane, Australia who formed in 1999. The band consists of singer and keyboardist Patience Hodgson, guitarist John Patterson, and drummer Alana Skyring. Their sound takes on an eclectically punk-influenced, rock 'n' roll energy, with vocal melodies that stand out in contrast to their driving rhythm section.

The Grates released their debut album, Gravity Won't Get You High, in 2006, garnering two Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) nominations. Since then, the band has released three more albums: Teeth Lost, Hearts Won in 2008, Secret Rituals in 2011, and Dreamteam in 2014. They also composed the 2012 television series "Chefn'Around."

The Grates have played some of the biggest music festivals in Australia, Japan, and the United States, and have made numerous television appearances. They have become one of Australia's most popular rock bands,
