The The is a British post-punk band from London that has had a rich and varied musical career since their formation in 1979. Led by singer Matt Johnson, the band has released nine studio albums including Infected (1986); Mind Bomb (1989); Dusk (1992); and NakedSelf (2000). Their sound combines elements of post-punk, new wave, and electronica. Over the course of their career, The The has had a highly influential body of work, ranging from alternative dance songs to melancholic existential lyrics. Their hit singles “This Is The Day,” “Infected,” and “Slow Emotion Replay” have stood the test of time, and their often political lyrics have cemented them as a post-punk/quirky band that many have come to admire. The The has performed numerous successful live shows, and are still actively touring today.
