Tigran Hamasyan is an Armenian jazz pianist and musician who was born in 1987 in Yerevan, Armenia. His musical style is a unique blend of traditional Armenian folk music, jazz, rock, progressive and other genres. After winning numerous jazz contests in Armenia, he moved to Los Angeles in 2009 and began performing and teaching jazz piano. His debut album, World Passion, was released in 2010 to critical acclaim. Tigran has performed at clubs and festivals around the world, and has collaborated with jazz greats such as Kenny Garrett, Tigran Mets and Dave Liebman. His 2012 album Shadow Theater received a Grammy nomination in the Best Instrumental Composition category. His most recent album, The Call Within, was released in 2020.
