Unsane is an American post-hardcore / noise rock band formed in New York City in 1988. They are considered pioneers of noise rock, and together with fellow NYC acts White Zombie and Helmet, are responsible for pioneering the New York City post-hardcore scene. Unsane is composed of vocalist/guitarist Chris Spencer, drummer Vinnie Signorelli and bassist Dave Curran. The trio has constantly shifted labels and distributors over its career, but nonetheless managed to release eight albums over their 30 year career, including their most recent offering, Sterilize, in 2017. Over their career, Unsane had an influence on the likes of Nirvana, Melvins, The Jesus Lizard and Big Black. The band has maintained an underground following in the decades since their inception, and still has occasional showings in their home New York City.
