Yazz Ahmed is a British-Bahraini trumpeter, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Raised in the UK, Ahmed began her career within London’s jazz scene before going on to compose and perform with a variety of different ensembles. She recently released her third album 'Ala Nar' in 2020, and has been highly praised for her melding of jazz, free-improvisation and the traditional music of the Near and Middle East. Ahmed has been commissioned to compose music for the London Jazz Festival, BBC Radio 3 and the Barbican Centre’s, amongst other institutions. She recently appeared on saxophonist Joshua Redman’s Grammy-nominated album RoundAgain, as well as the 2019 Mercury-nominated Kokoroko album. In 2020 she was chosen as the House Band in Residence at London’s prestigious Village Underground.
