Australian music legend John Farnham has announced that he will no longer perform publicly, citing the physical challenges resulting from his recent battle with oral cancer. In an interview with the Herald Sun, Farnham stated, "Because of the surgeries to my mouth and face over the past few years, singing on stage is not something I can consider again. It's just not possible." (7news.com.au)

Farnham, 76, was diagnosed with mouth cancer in 2022 and underwent a 12-hour surgery to remove a tumor, followed by facial and jaw reconstruction procedures. Despite being declared cancer-free in August 2023, the surgeries have left him unable to sing. (musicradar.com)

In honor of Farnham's illustrious career, a tribute concert titled "The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend" is scheduled for September 20, 2026, at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena. The event will feature performances from renowned artists such as Celine Dion, Hugh Jackman, Keith Urban, Jimmy Barnes, Tina Arena, Richard Marx, Human Nature, and Jessica Mauboy. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Head and Neck Cancer Australia, the organization that supported Farnham during his treatment. (abc.net.au)

Reflecting on the upcoming tribute, Farnham expressed his gratitude: "I've been incredibly lucky to spend my life doing what I love, and even luckier to have Australians embrace my music the way they have. This night isn't about me. It's about giving something back and supporting a cause that means a great deal to me." (au.variety.com)

Tickets for the concert will go on sale on June 2, 2026, through Ticketek. Fans are encouraged to secure their seats promptly for this one-night-only event celebrating the enduring legacy of one of Australia's most beloved performers.
