About BABYMETAL
BABYMETAL is a Japanese female heavy metal band, formed as a sub-unit of the idol group Sakura Gakuin in 2010. The frontwomen of the group, SU-METAL and MOAMETAL, are backed by a powerful group of musicians called the Kami Band. The band’s original sound fuses metal with J-pop elements, combining catchy melodies with chaotic guitar riffs, and elaborate live performances.
The band released their self-titled debut album in 2014, which topped the Japanese charts and gained fans around the globe. This international success was soon followed by successful world tours as well as the release of two more albums, Metal Resistance and Metal Galaxy, both of which also went to number one in Japan.
BABYMETAL has earned praise from some of the biggest names in metal music, such as Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. They have also won several awards, including the Metal Hammer award
