Cher is an American singer, songwriter and actress who has become one of the most iconic celebrities of the 20th century. Her career began in the 1960s as one half of the pop duo Sonny & Cher, who achieved success with their singles I Got You Babe and The Beat Goes On. After their split, she continued as a solo artist and released hits such as Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down), Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves, and Half-Breed. Beginning in the late 70s, Cher has also had a successful film career, appearing in movies such as Silkwood, Mask, Moonstruck and more. She starred on Broadway, on television, and won an Academy Award for her role in Moonstruck. In 1998, she was nominated for her role in the film, Tea with Mussolini. Her music career has been consistently successful throughout the years, with songs such as Believe, Strong Enough and I Hope You Find It. Cher is
