About Umru
Umru is an Oakland-born electronic music producer, rapper and vocalist of Indian descent. His sound rocks between forward-thinking alternative rap and dark R&B. He started producing beats in high school and developed his sound through his musical collective Still Woozy. Umru released his debut EP Paradise in 2019, with darkly lush pop-leaning tracks that showcase his soulful vocal style and heavy bass-laden beats. His debut album Foreign came out in 2021, featuring genre-bending tracks that skillfully span across rap, electronic music, and R&B. Umru's music has been praised for its raw emotion and honest lyrics, with each track showing his willingness to experiment and bend genre rules. He has gained recognition for his work from NPR Music, Billboard, and Pigeons & Planes.
