Gladys Knight is an American music artist who began her career in the 1950s as part of a family act called The Pips. After the Pips broke up in 1989, Knight pursued a solo career and has released over 40 solo albums. In her long and successful career, Knight has won seven Grammy Awards, as well as numerous awards for her acting roles. She has collaborated with artists like Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and The Isley Brothers, and in 2019 Knight received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition to her music career, Gladys Knight has also worked in television and film, with the most recent being her role in Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral in 2019. Knight is still an active and beloved figure in the music industry.
