Avantdale Bowling Club is an independent hip hop group based out of Auckland, New Zealand. Members Tom Scott and Ruban Nielson started making music together in 2017, but achieved success in 2019 with the release of their debut album, Avantdale Bowling Club. The album combines elements of soul, jazz, and hip hop, and earned wide critical acclaim, being nominated for the Taite Music Prize. Their second album, Every Evening / Every Thing, was released in 2021. The album explores diverse musical styles, which have been compared to artists like Flying Lotus, and has been hailed for its unique and powerful message. Avantdale Bowling Club continue to tour and record, and have built a loyal fanbase in the process.
