About Body Count
Body Count is an American metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1990. Founded by rapper and actor Ice-T, the group is known for its violent lyrics and crushing sound. The band’s lineup has shifted a number of times since its inception, with guitarist Ernie C being the only original member of the group. Body Count released its self-titled debut album in 1992. The album fueled controversy with its song 'Cop Killer', which focused on police brutality towards African Americans. Despite this, the album went platinum and featured guest appearances from tracks such as 'Ice T & Slayer'. Subsequent albums such as 'Born Dead' expanded their style to include more nu metal influences alongside their existing metal sound. In addition to music, the band is well-known for their live shows and TV appearances. In the more recent years, the band has continued to maintain their heavy and politically charged sound, most recently releasing 'Carnivore' in 2020.
