About Brentano Quartet

The Brentano Quartet has been making music together since 1993, and is one of the world’s leading contemporary music string quartets. Formed by four friends during their time at Yale University, Mark Steinberg (violin), Serena Canin (violin), Misha Amory (viola) and Natasha Brofsky (cello). The group has performed all over the world at a variety of venues ranging from major opera houses to small, intimate concerts. The Quartet has earned numerous awards and honors, including two Grammy nominations and a Grammy win for their recording of Beethoven’s Late String Quartets. They also released the unusual album 'The Pearls,' which contains quartet arrangements of classic pop songs by the Beatles, among others. Currently, the Quartet is based out of New York City and continues to perform and record music, working to bring contemporary music to wider audiences.
