The band was founded in 2007 and originally began as a three-piece but later expanded to a four-piece when Brendan Murphy took over vocal duties. Over the years, Counterparts have released four full-length albums, 'The Current Will Carry Us' in 2011, 'The Difference Between Hell and Home' in 2013, 'Tragedy Will Find Us' in 2015, and their most recent 'Nothing Left to Love' in 2019. They have also released several EP's and singles. Counterparts have been praised by critics, and their songwriting has been cited as formidable. They have drawn comparisons to masters of the genre like Touché Amoré and Modern Life Is War who have both repeatedly cited Counterparts as one of their main influences.
