DAF is a pioneering German band that has been making music since 1978. The group, consisting of members Robert Görl and Gabi Delgado, are seen as a major influence in the development of Techno and EBM music, as well as the New Wave sound.

Throughout their career, DAF has explored a range of styles within their music. Early albums such as Alles Ist Gut and Die Kleinen and der Boes released in the early 80s saw the band combine Synthpop melodies and New Wave rhythms with more experimental structures.

Their musical output slowly shifted towards a more minimal Techno style, and in the mid-80s, lead by Robert Görl, they released EBM albums such as Gold und Liebe and 1st Step to Heaven. These albums are now regarded as some of the most influential Techno albums of all time.
