Dying Fetus is an American death metal band from Upper Marlboro, Maryland. The band was formed in 1991 by members John Gallagher, Jason Netherton, and Eric Brecht. They released their debut album 'Purification Through Violence' in 1996. Over the past 23 years the band has released eight additional full-length studio albums, as well as two live albums and two EPs. Their eighth album, 'Wrong One to Fuck With', was released in 2017 and received critical acclaim. The band is renowned for its technical, fast-paced, aggressive sound which employs a mix of technical death metal and grindcore-like vocals. Dying Fetus are considered an important part of the metalcore scene and are widely credited with pioneering the blending of death metal and hardcore punk.
