Girl Unit (real name Phil Gamble) is a DJ and UK producer of electronic music. He first gained notoriety with his 2006 single “Wut” on the London-based label Night Slugs. His brand of music, often dubbed “UK Funky” or “Bassline”, is a blend of UK garage, bass music, and grime. His sound has become influential in the international clubbing and festival circuits. He has remixed songs for numerous artists including The xx, Little Dragon, and Rihanna, and has collaborated with producers such as Sinden and Jacques Greene. He has also released two EPs, ‘I.R.L.’ (2011) and ‘Songs of Negation' (2018), and both have been well received by critics. He is currently a resident DJ of his own Rinse FM show “Club Constructions” and continues to tour around the world.
