I Am the Avalanche is an American post-hardcore band from Long Island, NY, formed in 2005. They are best known for their enthusiastic live shows and for their lyrics, which often focus on introspective themes. Band members include Vinnie Caruana (vocals/guitar), Brandon Swanson (bass), Brett "the Ratt" Romnes (drums) and Alison Curtle (keyboard/backing vocals).

I Am the Avalanche's debut album, the self-titled record I Am the Avalanche, was released in 2005 to critical acclaim. The album featured songs like "Green Eyes", "New Disaster" and "Dead and Gone" which continue to be played during live shows to this day. The band followed up with their second album, Avalanche United, in 2011.

Throughout their career, the band has shared the stage with acts such as Taking Back Sunday, Coheed and Cambria, and Brand New. In 2020, I Am the
