Jill Scott is an American singer, songwriter and actress from Philadelphia. She started her career as a spoken word artist, gaining critical acclaim throughout the late 90s for her neo soul style. Scott released her debut album Who is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1 in 2000, which spawned multiple hits including “Gettin’ In The Way” and “A Long Walk”. Since then she has continued to release albums, win awards and collaborate with various artists. In 2019 she released her fifth studio album, Woman. Scott has also appeared in films including Hounddog, Why Did I Get Married? and Baggage Claim. She has also guest-starred on several TV shows, including the Steve Harvey Show, Law & Order: SVU and House of Lies. Scott was very well-received by both audiences and critics alike, and she continues to release new music today.
