Richard Marx is an American adult contemporary/pop singer-songwriter who achieved mainstream success in the late-1980s/early-1990s. His self-titled debut album was released in 1987 and spawned several international hit singles, including "Hold on to the Nights," "Should've Known Better," and "Don't Mean Nothing," all reaching the Top 5 in the US.
