About South of Salem
South of Salem is an American four-piece metal band from St. Louis, Missouri. The group is composed of Nathan Smith on lead guitar, Hillur Jonsson on bass, Vinny Hignight on rhythm guitar, and Jake Alford on drums. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2015, which had the atmosphere of classic heavy metal, with influences from bands like Pantera, Lamb of God, and Whitesnake.
In 2017, South of Salem released their second album, These Are the Keys, featuring their more popular single, "Like Gold". The group's sound evolved slightly and incorporated styles from a variety of influences, ranging from death metal to classic rock. Their 2018 album, Phoenix, showed the band's maturation and gained attention for its growling guitar riffs and melodic choruses.
South of Salem continues to perform extensively throughout the United States and Canada, having toured in numerous venues and festivals.
