The Nightingales are a Birmingham, UK based band that formed in 1979. Considered pioneers in the post-punk genre, the band has been credited for helping to shape the Birmingham alternative rock music scene that included bands such as The Mighty Lemon Drops and Fuzzbox. The Nightingales have released 11 studio albums and a number of singles and EPs, staying successful even after going on hiatus in the late '90s. The band reunited in 2004 to contrast opinions on the music industry at the time, and has continued to tour and record in the years since. They have been praised by critics for their unique and unruling approach to crafting and performing catchy rock songs.
