About Primus

Primus is a funk-metal band established in the mid-1980s from El Sobrante, California. It currently consists of Les Claypool on vocals and bass, Larry "Ler" LaLonde on guitar and Tim "Herb" Alexander on drums. Alongside the Cure, Primus is credited with being one of the forms of alternative rock that gradually developed during the late 1980s. They have released ten studio albums to date, their most successful being Sailing the Seas of Cheese (1991) and Pork Soda (1993). Primus gained some mainstream attention with the single "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver." The band is well known for their bizarre stage theatrics. They have a large cult fan base and continue to tour and record sporadically.
