Dashboard Confessional is an American alternative rock band formed in Boca Raton, Florida, in 1999. The band's frontman, Chris Carrabba, is the only constant member of Dashboard Confessional. The band is often credited with helping spark a mini-revival of acoustic-tinged emotional rock music in early 2000s.Their debut album, The Swiss Army Romance, was released in 2000 and was well-received by critics. The album was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2008. Dashboard Confessional's follow-up album, 2001's The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum by the RIAA.
