Thursday is an American post-hardcore band from New Brunswick, NJ, that formed in 1997 and disbanded in 2011. They gained notoriety in the early 2000s as a successful example of the burgeoning Emo and Pop-punk scenes. They gained further critical acclaim with A City By the Light Divided in 2006, and attracted a much larger fan base than their previous LP's. Their music has been known for its combination of aggressive punk and screamed vocals with introspective and emotive lyrics. After a successful decade, the band had become inactive due to multiple members leaving, announcing their break up in 2011. Thursday has gone down as an influential and beloved example of both the post-hardcore and emo scenes of the early 2000's, still being appreciated as a band with an impressive catalog of hard-hitting music.
