Iris DeMent is an American singer-songwriter from Arkansas. She began her career in 1992 with her first album, 'Infamous Angel', which showcased her signature blend of folk, country and gospel songs. She has since released six studio albums and has become one of the most beloved modern folk artists. She is known for her honest, often autobiographical lyrics about love and faith, as well as her soulful, powerful voice. She has received several awards, including the Americana Music Award for Song of the Year and a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Album. She has also collaborated with many other musicians, including John Prine and Emmylou Harris.
