About The English Beat
The English Beat is a British two-tone and ska revival band formed in Birmingham, England in 1978. The founding members were Dave Wakeling on vocals/guitar, Andy Cox on guitar, and David Steel on drums. The band's musical style fused ska, reggae, pop, soul, and punk. The English Beat had multiple hits in both the British and American music charts in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Their most popular song was "Save It for Later," which peaked at number five on the UK Singles Chart and number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The band broke up in 1983, but reformed with Dave Wakeling as the only member at the helm in 2010. Since then, the group has released two albums in 2011 and 2016. The English Beat continues to tour internationally to this day.
