About Mother Hips
Mother Hips is an American folk-rock/alt-country band from California, and their sound is sometimes described as a combination of '70s rockers the Eagles and '80s new-wave band the dBs. They formed in 1989 and first gained traction on the college rock scene in the early 1990s and have since built a devout cult following. The original lineup consisted of singer-songwriters Tim Bluhm and Greg Loiacono with drummer John Hofer.
Their debut album, Back to the Grotto, was released in 1993 and the Mother Hips have released eight full-length studio albums since, in addition to several EPs, live albums, and compilation albums. While all the albums in their discography have been well received by their core fanbase, the their most important releases are probably 1997's Part Time Life, 1994's Shootout, and 2004's Rearview Mirror.
