The Icicle Works is a British alternative rock band that was formed in Liverpool in 1980. The original lineup consisted of Ian McNabb (vocals, guitar), Chris Layhe (bass, vocals), and Chris Sharrock (drums). They gained prominence in the mid-1980s with their hit single "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)," which enjoyed success in both the UK and the US. Known for their richly layered sound and lyrical depth, the band released several albums before disbanding in 1990, though McNabb has periodically revived the band for tours and special projects.
