Professor Brian Greene is an American particle physicist, string theorist, and author. He is the co-founder of the World Science Festival and professor of physics and mathematics at Columbia University in New York City. He is known for his research on ‘superstring theory’, which seeks to unify the 5 known fundamental interactions of nature in a single theoretical framework. In 2004, he published his first book, The Elegant Universe, which explains his work on superstrings. He has since published two more books, The Fabric of the Cosmos and The Hidden Reality, exploring the fundamentals of modern physics. He has also made numerous television appearances and lectures, including a 2005 mini-series for Nova PBS. He was awarded the National Science Foundation Director’s Award, and is a member of science-popularizing websites.
