The Beatles were famously nicknamed “The Fab Four” but for many fans, The Animals were a first-choice band among British Invasion groups. Comprised of five members from northeastern England, The Animals scored their first No.1 UK single in 1964 with "House of the Rising Sun." Over the following two years they achieved international success while touring the United States with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Herman's Hermits, and The Kinks. Their subsequent U.S. hits included “We Gotta Get Out of This Place,” “It’s My Life,” and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". After their breakup in 1966, The Animals had a series of reunions over the years, including shows and a few new recordings. Today, the group is best remembered for their influence in bridging the gap between blues and rock n’ roll.
