IQ is an English progressive metal band, originally formed in 1980, that has developed a reputation as one of the most important and influential progressive rock bands since then. The original lineup of the band, which included vocalist/guitarist Mike Holmes, keyboardist Martin Orford, guitarist Tim Esau, bassist John Jowitt, and drummer Paul Cook, provided a world of melodic, progressive metal for keen progressive metal fans. Their energetic live shows soon earned them a loyal fan base in the early 80’s.
