About Jawbox
Jawbox was an influential post-hardcore band hailing from Washington, D.C. and active from 1990-1996. Consisting of J Robbins (vocals, guitar), Bill Barbot (guitar), Kim Coletta (bass) and Adam Wade (drums) the band released four full-length albums and two EPs. They gained a cult following through their unique sound, combining loud distorted guitar riffs with melodic crooning.
Jawbox were an early signing to the venerable indie label Dischord Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1991, following it up with Grippe and Novelty two years later. The band began to experience commercial success in their later years, with their most successful album For Your Own Special Sweetheart being released by Atlantic Records in 1994. They toured with bands such as Nirvana, and also appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman.
