About Chicago Symphony Orchestra
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) has been one of the most influential and acclaimed symphony orchestras in musical history since its founding in 1891. With the combined artistic excellence of world-class conductors, musicians, and distinguished guest soloists, the CSO presents classical, popular, jazz, and educational programs of the highest caliber each season.
The CSO has produced more than 120 recording labels as well as several Grammy and Grammy Hall of Fame awards, and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 1997. They are currently led by Music Director Riccardo Muti, an internationally acclaimed conductor with a career spanning five decades. The CSO currently performs in two iconic Chicago venues, Symphony Center and The Ravinia Festival.
The CSO is also involved in various educational and outreach programs throughout the city of Chicago and has collaborated with some of the most renowned artists in music such as Yo-Yo Ma and Ella Fitzgerald. Other unique projects of the CS
