About The Magnetic Fields
The Magnetic Fields is an American Pop/Indie Rock band formed in 1991 by songwriter and frontman Stephin Merritt. The band has released at least ten full-length albums, notable among them being '69 Love Songs' (1999), 'i' (2004) and 'Realism' (2010) - all of which have been well-received by critics and fans. The Magnetic Fields often makes use of synthesizers and drum machines, and lyrically explores themes of love, loneliness, and despair. Despite its indie-rock leanings, the band often displays influences from genres such as Baroque pop and 1920's era swing. Their style has attracted both a cult following and occasional mainstream recognition. The band is also well known for their eccentric live shows, often involving costumes and puppets.
