About The Howard Morrison Quartet
The Howard Morrison Quartet was a multi-award winning musical group active in New Zealand from the 1950s through the 70s. Featuring Howard Morrison as band leader and front man, the band was renowned for its tight vocal harmonies, sharp dress sense, and lively live performances. They had considerable commercial success with such hit songs as "Hoki Mai", "Quick Quick Slow" and "Maori Sidestep". With seven original studio albums, three singles, and two live albums, the Howard Morrison Quartet became one of New Zealand's most successful musical artists of its era. They were the first New Zealand group to break internationally, with "Hoki Mai" becoming a worldwide hit in the 1960s. The band received numerous accolades, including the New Zealand Music Awards’ “Album of the Year” in 1979 for its album, The Best of the Howard Morrison Quartet.
