About Regis
If Regis doesn't ring any bells, then you haven't experienced techno the proper way. Born in Birmingham, Regis's raw and thrilling electronic sound has been highly influenced by the post-punk and industrial scenarios that were unfolding during that period.
With an existing idea of the concept of his sound, Regis started Downwards, a DIY record label which served to release music from artists sharing the same sound aesthetic such as Surgeon or Female.
Following the release of his 1996 "Gymnastics" album, which was a statement of his appeal to cold-hearted industrial sound, Regis found himself inclining towards a more mechanical and complex sound. Embracing field recordings and drone sounds, Regis shied away from loopy sounds and began implementing new mechanical sounds into his productions.
Regis sound has evolved from the raw synthetic sound typical to the early '90s to a mixture of haunting sound eclipses that preserve track intensities.
