Bongzilla is an American stoner metal band from Madison, Wisconsin. They emerged out of the early '90s metal scene, utilizing sludgy riffs and downtuned guitars to create a thick, gritty sound. Bongzilla's heavy-handed approach to doom metal and sludge rock has been compared to bands like Sleep, High on Fire, and Electric Wizard. Their lyrics and subject matter are typically marijuana-related and their music is often described as an ode to pot smokers. Bongzilla have released six studio albums since 1998, as well as several splits and EPs. They have also been featured on several compilations and had their music appear in video games.
