San Francisco Symphony (SFS) is an acclaimed American orchestra based in San Francisco, California. Founded in 1911, it is the oldest orchestra in California, and the second oldest American orchestra by continual existence behind the New York Philharmonic. The orchestra is currently made up of over 100 full-time and various honorary guest musicians, and its current music director is Michael Tilson Thomas.

Performing over 170 concerts each year, they are acclaimed for their high standard of artistic expression and artistic quality, and often perform alongside world-famous musicians. It has performed concerts around the world, as well as recording and releasing over 100 albums and contributed to over 50 film scores. In addition, it has received seven Grammy Awards in association with its recordings, and holds the distinction of primarily performing the works of renowned American composers.
