About Death Grips

Death Grips are an experimental hip-hop group from Sacramento, California, formed in 2010. The group consists of drummer Zach Hill, vocalist/lyricist MC Ride and keyboard/sampler/noise artist Andy Morin. Death Grips drew attention with their unconventional approach to hip-hop and rock, combining abrasive production, loud distorted samples, and intense dynamic shifts with lyrical themes mostly centered around nihilism and alienation. Their live performances, characterized by frenetic energy and chaotic staging, have also been noted as one of the most influential aspects of the band. The group has released five studio albums, as well as several EPs and collaborations, since their debut in 2011. Death Grips became widely admired in the underground and were embraced by leading publications worldwide before disbanding in 2014. They reunited in 2016, however, and have since released one more album.
