Bill Frisell is an American jazz guitarist and composer from Denver, Colorado. His original style blends jazz, country, folk, classical, and rock music. He began his career in 1980 and has since released more than 40 albums as a leader, most of which have been on the Nonesuch Records label. He has performed and recorded with artists ranging from Paul Motian, John Zorn, and Elvis Costello to Ron Carter, David Sanborn and Bonnie Raitt. His most recent album, Harmony, is a collaboration between his two trios. He has also composed scores for films, theatre productions, and modern dance, as well as been commissioned to compose original works for many ensembles. He is widely regarded in the jazz and music communities as a master of improvisation and a creative chameleon, continually reinventing himself and his music.
