Preoccupations is a post-punk band which formed in 2012 under the name Viet Cong. The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Matt Flegel, guitarist Daniel Christiansen, bassist Scott Munro and drummer Mike Wallace. Two members briefly left in 2016, but soon after rejoined the band under its new name, Preoccupations.

Their self-titled debut album was released in 2015 and received critical acclaim from publications like Pitchfork, The Guardian and Stereogum. It was a highly experimental album, incorporating a blend of noise rock, electronic and post-punk. Their 2016 follow-up, 'Viet Cong', continued this exploration of genres and received even more acclaim.

In 2018, Preoccupations released their third album 'New Material', continuing their mix of experimental post-punk sounds. The album is heavily influenced by psychedelia and ambient music, with each track blending different elements of the genres together.
