Corey Taylor is an American musician and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of heavy metal bands Slipknot and Stone Sour. He joined Slipknot in 1997, shortly before the release of their debut album, and has subsequently released five studio albums with the band. He has also released six studio albums with Stone Sour, with whom he has twice been nominated for Grammy Awards. He has also performed acoustic and solo works under his own name, and was also a touring guitarist for the American indie rock band Sugar Ray from 2006 to 2016. He has also published two books with Simon & Schuster and appears in film and television. His musical style has ranged from alternative metal and nu metal sounds with Slipknot, to hard rock and alternative rock with Stone Sour. Coreys words and music have defined genres and influenced generations.
